Idaho – Self Storage Act Modified

The Idaho legislature adopted and the Governor has signed Senate Bill 1126. The changes go in
effect July 1, 2025.

The change is to eliminate the requirement of newspaper advertising prior to conducting a lien
sale. There are also technical changes to the Statute, as well as changes to the Default Notice
which you are still required to send, but the advertising requirement is eliminated.

You should review these changes with your local self storage counsel to make sure you are in
compliance and understand all the changes and nuances to these changes on or before July 1,
2025
.

Congratulations to both the National Self Storage Association and the Idaho Self Storage
Association for working diligently to bring such an important change to your state.
