Governor Stitt signed a Bill modifying the Oklahoma Self Storage Act, which goes into effect November 1, 2026.
The summary of the changes are to provide that a Rental Agreement delivered in person, by First Class Mail (or, with agreement from the Occupant by email,) would be deemed signed by the Occupant if the Occupant continues to occupy the Storage Space and pay rent for at least Thirty (30) days after delivery of the written Rental Agreement, thus the Agreement would be deemed signed.
The second change is to modify and improve your termination remedy for non-monetary defaults only to avoid having to go to eviction court. Both of these changes would require some amount of modification to your Rental Agreement. Please consult with your local counsel to understand how these changes apply to you, and how to modify your Rental Agreement.
