Georgia – Self Storage Act Amended

Georgia has amended its Self-Storage Act. These changes do not go into effect until July 1, 2025.

Simply, newspaper (legal organ) advertising has been changed from two advertisements once a week for 2 consecutive weeks to one advertisement at least 15 days before the sale, however, there is a way to post advertising, in lieu of a newspaper, if the advertisement is posted in a commercially reasonable manner.

It is important you consult with your own legal counsel to understand the nuances of these changes and to make the necessary changes to your Rental Agreement, on or after July 1, 2025.

Congratulations to the Georgia Self Storage Association and the National SSA on this significant change that will result in a large amount of savings to the operators in Georgia.
